Relaxed wrinkles & preserved expression: natural Botox treatment with Dr. Nichlos
Unfortunately, medicine can do nothing (yet) about aging itself, but it can do something about its side effects such as wrinkles. Besides a surgical facelift, treatment with botulinum toxin A also offers a gentle, non-surgical option.
At his practice in Frankfurt, Dr. Nichlos uses the active ingredient, better known under its brand name Botox, to visually soften age-related wrinkles and expression lines such as crow’s feet, marionette lines, or frown lines, and so contribute to a fresher appearance.
Besides wrinkle injection, the active ingredient can also be used for other complaints such as migraine, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), or teeth grinding (bruxism). Whether Botox treatment is the right solution for you is something Dr. med. Nichlos is glad to discuss with you in a personal and, of course, completely non-binding consultation. What is Botox?
Botox is the best-known brand name for botulinum toxin type A and is often used as a synonym for this active ingredient. Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin secreted by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum.
In the body, the neurotoxin blocks the transmission of signals from nerves to muscles. Specifically, it inhibits the release of the messenger substance acetylcholine, which is responsible for muscle activity. Without acetylcholine, the muscle cannot contract; it is completely relaxed, but as if paralyzed. Medicine also makes use of this effect. Today, botulinum toxin is used in various medical fields. Lips can be injected as well, more on that on our page Lip filler in Frankfurt.

What are the benefits of Botox treatment in Frankfurt?

Dr. med. Emmanouil Nichlos has specialized in Botox treatments for more than 17 years and has comprehensive experience in minimally invasive wrinkle treatment. With precise dosing and a trained aesthetic eye, he aims for natural, fresh results.
What areas of application is botulinum toxin used for?
Treatment with botulinum toxin / Botox is best known as a gentle, non-surgical option for treating wrinkles in the face.
Wrinkle injection with Botox
Wrinkle injection is suited to smoothing so-called expression lines. Expression lines are wrinkles in the face that develop because the facial muscles we need for our expressions are moved frequently. These include, for example, forehead lines such as the vertical frown lines on the forehead, caused by frequently drawing the eyebrows together, but also horizontal forehead lines, which result from frequently raising the eyebrows. Other examples of expression lines suited to wrinkle injection with Botox are lip lines, crow’s feet, and lines on the chin.
Botox for excessive sweating
Another area of application for botulinum toxin is excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). By injecting the active ingredient into the affected areas (for example the armpits or the palms), the release of acetylcholine, and with it the activity of the sweat glands, is inhibited there, which means the person sweats less.
Botox for migraine
Botox is also suitable for use in chronic migraine. The injected botulinum toxin relaxes the head, neck, and shoulder muscles on the one hand and has an anti-inflammatory effect on the other. In many cases, a Botox injection can thus help relieve symptoms.
Botox for bruxism
Botox often also shows a positive effect in the treatment of persistent teeth grinding (bruxism). Here, the botulinum toxin is injected into the masseter muscle, so that muscle tension eases, pain is reduced, and grinding is lessened.
Botox is also used in neurology, in particular to treat movement disorders, muscle tremor, or spasms.
What happens before the Botox treatment?
Before the Botox treatment, Dr. med. Nichlos holds a detailed personal consultation with you. Tell him which wrinkles or fine lines bother you most and what visual changes you would like.
Dr. Nichlos will ask about your medical history and current situation to determine whether there are any reasons that speak against Botox treatment. With certain neuromuscular conditions, allergies, or during pregnancy, for example, treatment with Botox is not possible.
If all requirements are met, Dr. med. Nichlos explains the effect of Botox, the course of the treatment, and the result you can expect from a wrinkle injection. He also informs you about possible risks of the injection and what you should observe before and after the treatment. Please avoid sunbathing and facial peels before your appointment.
How does a Botox treatment in Frankfurt work?
The wrinkle injection with Botox is performed on an outpatient basis at our practice in Frankfurt. Anesthesia is usually not required. On request, however, local numbing of the treatment area with an anesthetic cream is of course possible.
After the treatment site has been cleaned and disinfected, a precisely defined dose of Botox is injected into the wrinkles with very fine needles. The treatment time varies depending on the type and depth of the wrinkles. In our experience, injecting the wrinkles takes between 10 and 25 minutes.
Right after the treatment, you can leave our practice in Frankfurt and are usually socially presentable again immediately. Please follow our instructions and behavior tips after the wrinkle treatment.
Aftercare following Botox treatment: what to keep in mind
No special aftercare is required. In the first 3 hours after the injection, however, you should stay upright if possible (do not lie down). We recommend taking it easy on the day of treatment and avoiding physically strenuous activities and sports. From the next day, sports are possible again. If needed, you can cool the areas gently.
In the next days, avoid swimming pools and saunas and protect your skin from direct sunlight. In the first 1 to 2 weeks after treatment with botulinum toxin, you should not have any cosmetic facial treatments and please do not massage your face. If needed, a follow-up appointment with Dr. Nichlos can be scheduled.
What risks does Botox treatment involve?
As with any procedure, there are risks. We discuss them with you in detail beforehand. Slight redness, bruising, and/or swelling can occur at the injection sites. A slight burning pain in the treated area is also possible. These are normal reactions to the injection and are only temporary. They usually subside on their own after a short time.
Great care is needed when dosing botulinum toxin. Too high a dose can cause dry mouth and swallowing difficulties as well as headaches and nausea, and can affect facial features or expression. It is all the more important to have Botox treatment performed only by an experienced expert and specialist in plastic surgery like Dr. med. Nichlos.
How much does Botox treatment cost in Frankfurt?
What is included in the price?
The cost of Botox treatment consists of several medical services. These usually include:
- detailed consultation (€100, fully credited if you go ahead with treatment)

The cost of Botox treatment depends on various factors, in particular the treatment area and the amount of active ingredient needed. Botox is dosed individually, as every person’s facial musculature is different and therefore requires a different amount of botulinum toxin.
At our practice, the cost of Botox treatment usually starts at:
- Botox treatment: from €250
The final price depends on the treatment goal, the number of zones treated, and the amount of active ingredient required. In a personal consultation, Dr. med. Nichlos prepares an individual treatment plan and informs you transparently about the expected costs.

Frequently asked questions about Botox treatment in Frankfurt
How quickly is the result visible after the treatment?
The effect usually sets in within 3 to 5 days, and the full result is visible after about 10 to 14 days. The muscles gradually relax, which smooths the treated wrinkles.
Can Botox treatment look natural?
Yes. The goal of professional Botox treatment is not complete immobility, but a subtle smoothing of facial features while preserving natural expression. At Dr. Nichlos’ practice, particular emphasis is placed on a harmonious result.
Does preventive treatment with Botox make sense?
Botox can be used before wrinkles become permanently visible. Many patients use it from their mid to late twenties for targeted prevention, for example with very pronounced facial expressions or a genetic tendency toward forehead lines or frown lines.
How often can Botox be used?
With professional use, repeating the treatment every 3 to 6 months is common.
Can Botox be combined with other aesthetic treatments?
Yes, many patients combine Botox with hyaluronic acid fillers to compensate for volume loss and smooth wrinkles in a targeted way at the same time. Treatments such as skin boosters or microneedling can also be combined well with Botox, tailored to your personal goals.
How much Botox do you need for three zones and what does it cost?
The amount cannot be stated as a flat figure, because botulinum toxin is dosed to suit each person: facial musculature varies and needs different amounts of active ingredient. The price depends on the treatment goal, the number of zones, and the amount of active ingredient, and starts at €250. Treatable zones include frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and eyebrows, among others. After the consultation (€100, fully credited if you go ahead with treatment), you receive a treatment plan with the expected costs. More prices are listed in the price list.
When is Botox the right choice and when hyaluronic acid?
Botox works on expression lines caused by muscle activity, for example forehead lines, frown lines, or lines around the eyes. Hyaluronic acid, by contrast, pads out the tissue and is better suited to wrinkles caused by volume loss, such as nasolabial folds or marionette lines. If both causes are present at the same time, a combination can make sense. Dr. Nichlos explains in the consultation in Frankfurt what fits your case.
Does health insurance pay for Botox treatment?
For wrinkle treatment for aesthetic reasons, usually not; it is a self-pay service. Dr. Nichlos’ practice in Frankfurt is a private practice without statutory health insurance accreditation and bills privately: it treats self-pay patients as well as privately insured patients with a medical indication. Botox treatment starts at €250.
