Lifting drooping eyebrows at Dr. Nichlos' practice: brow lift for an expressive look
Aging often shows in the face first. Drooping eyebrows are particularly unwelcome, as their shape and position are largely responsible for facial expression and influence how other people perceive us. If the eyebrows sink because of age-related loose skin and muscles around the eyes and on the forehead, the face can look older than you actually are. Or it can give you a tired or even grumpy expression, although neither is the case. Cosmetics alone can usually do little here.
With a brow lift (also called eyebrow lifting), drooping eyebrows can be raised again, facial features defined more clearly and the eyes made to look larger. Depending on your needs, different methods are used. In addition to the classic surgical eyebrow lift, Dr. Nichlos also offers minimally invasive methods such as injections with Botox. Which treatment is best for you is easiest to clarify in a non-binding consultation at our practice in Frankfurt.
What is a brow lift?
A brow lift is a relatively small procedure that, when performed by an experienced expert, can achieve a great effect. The goal is to lift and rejuvenate the eye area. Various surgical and minimally invasive methods are available for this. What they all have in common is that the eyebrows are raised in one way or another, making the gaze look more alert and the face more open and younger overall. Our guide Drooping eyelids and impaired vision: What is behind hooded eyelids? explains what can be behind drooping eyelids.

What are the benefits of a brow lift in Frankfurt?

Specialist for brow lifts in Frankfurt
Dr. med. Emmanouil Nichlos has more than 17 years of experience in brow lifting and aesthetic facial surgery.
With a keen sense for natural proportions, he achieves harmonious results and an alert, fresh facial expression. Dr. Nichlos personally looks after patients who have just had surgery. In the first 24 hours after the operation, he is available to them for questions or problems.
What are the reasons for a brow lift?
In most cases, it is aesthetic reasons that lead people to ask about a brow lift at our practice in Frankfurt. Many of our patients want their drooping eyebrows (congenital or age-related) corrected because they give their face a tired, serious or even sad expression. In some cases, a brow lift is meant to correct a different brow position on the left and right sides of the face or to balance a disharmony (brows, eyelids, forehead).
Sometimes people also come to us whose field of vision is restricted by drooping eyebrows. The reason is the weight of the brows, which presses the upper eyelids down.

Which methods are there for a brow lift?
Various methods are available for the brow lift. They can be roughly divided into surgical and chemical methods. In a surgical brow lift, the desired effect is achieved through an operation. Several variants are available for this type of lift:
Direct brow lift
The classic lift is a surgical procedure in which Dr. Nichlos makes a small incision at the upper edge of the eyebrow or at the hairline and removes a narrow strip of skin. He then sutures the edges again so that the skin is tightened and the brows are pulled slightly upward.
Temporal lift
The temporal lift is a combination of a brow lift and a forehead lift. The part of the eyebrow that has sunk with age is pulled upward and outward and forehead wrinkles are reduced; if needed, the eye area is tightened as well. The temporal lift is performed under local anesthesia, or with twilight sedation if you wish.
Internal browpexy
A smaller variant is the so-called internal browpexy, which is performed as part of an upper eyelid lift. The eyebrow is raised and stabilized through the incision made for the upper eyelid lift. Local anesthesia is generally sufficient for this treatment as well.
Brow lift with Botox
Another way to visually rejuvenate the area around the eyes is a chemical brow lift with botulinum toxin (trade name: Botox). Here Dr. Nichlos injects a small amount of botulinum toxin into the area around the eyebrows. The muscle relaxant relaxes the muscles that would otherwise pull the brows down unflatteringly through their tension.
What happens before a brow lift?
Before the brow lift can be performed, a consultation with Dr. med. Nichlos at our Frankfurt practice is required. In addition to a careful medical history, he examines and analyzes the shape of your brows, the condition of your skin and the muscle activity in this area, and recommends the suitable method for your brow lift.
In the conversation, he describes the course of the surgery, explains what you should pay attention to before and afterwards and which result you can expect. Of course, he also discusses possible risks and side effects and is available to answer your questions about the procedure.
Brow lift in Frankfurt: How does the procedure work?
In Frankfurt, a brow lift is generally performed under local anesthesia. As soon as it takes effect, the treatment can begin. The course varies depending on the method chosen.
In a classic brow lift, Dr. Nichlos makes the necessary incisions at the edge of the eyebrow (or, for very fine brows, at the hairline) to remove a spindle of skin with excess tissue. The remaining skin is then tightened and the brows are raised in this way.
In a brow lift with Botox, Dr. Nichlos injects a precisely defined dose of botulinum toxin at specific points in the muscles around the eyebrows.
Healing after the brow lift: What you should keep in mind
Allow yourself some rest after the lift and cool the treated area carefully. Keep your head as upright as possible and, in the first few days, sleep with your head and upper body raised, ideally on your back or side. Avoid physical exertion for 3 weeks and protect the eye area from direct sunlight.
After a Botox treatment, no special aftercare is required. You are immediately presentable and can exercise again the next day.
What are the risks of a brow lift?
The brow lift is performed by an experienced doctor such as Dr. Nichlos. Depending on the method, there are different risks, which the specialist will explain to you during the consultation. In the case of a classic lift, these include general surgical and anesthesia risks.
In general, mild redness, bruising and swelling can occur after a brow lift, but these usually subside in the following days. Temporary mild pain and/or numbness after the procedure are also possible.
How much does a brow lift cost in Frankfurt?
What is included in the price?
The treatment cost of a brow lift is made up of several components. These usually include:
- detailed consultation (€100, fully credited if you go ahead with the treatment)
- individual analysis of the eye and forehead area
- planning of the suitable treatment method
- fee for the treatment or surgery
- aftercare and follow-up appointments
For a surgical brow lift, anesthesia and clinic fees apply in addition, as the procedure is performed in a specialized clinic.
The cost of a brow lift depends mainly on which method is used. At our practice in Frankfurt, we offer both minimally invasive treatments with Botox and surgical brow lifts.
Prices generally start at:
- Brow lift with Botox: from €250
- Surgical brow lift: from €2,900
Which treatment makes sense depends, among other things, on the position of the brows, skin elasticity and the desired effect. While a Botox brow lift mainly provides a gentle lift of the eyebrows, a surgical brow lift can generally reposition the brows for several years.
After a personal examination at our practice, Dr. med. Nichlos prepares an individual treatment and cost plan that lists all services transparently.
Can you finance a brow lift?
For many patients, it is convenient not to have to pay the cost of a treatment all at once. For this reason, monthly installment payments are also available for a surgical brow lift.
Financing is handled through an experienced financing partner and can be tailored individually to your personal circumstances. This allows you to plan the treatment conveniently with a monthly installment.

Frequently asked questions about the brow lift in Frankfurt
Does a brow lift change my facial expression?
Yes, lifting the eyebrows makes the gaze look more alert and the face fresher overall. Dr. med. Nichlos aims for a natural result in which your facial expressions and personal appearance are preserved.
Is a brow lift painful?
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, or with twilight sedation if you wish. Thanks to the anesthesia, you will not feel anything during the treatment. Afterwards, a feeling of tightness and mild pain are possible, which can be treated well with pain medication.
Which methods are there for a brow lift?
Depending on your starting findings and desired outcome, different techniques are available: the classic direct brow lift, temporal lift, internal browpexy (usually combined with an upper eyelid lift), gliding brow lift or minimally invasive treatments with Botox.
How long do the results of a brow lift last?
A surgical lift generally lasts several years. How long it lasts depends on skin quality, age and lifestyle. Results from Botox are temporary and last about 4 to 6 months.
Will visible scars remain?
The incisions are made in inconspicuous places, e.g. along the hairline or the upper brow line. With proper aftercare, scars fade over time and are generally inconspicuous.
Who is a brow lift suitable for?
A brow lift is suitable for drooping or asymmetrical eyebrows, a tired facial expression or pronounced skin laxity in the forehead and eye area. An individual consultation with Dr. Nichlos will clarify whether a lift makes sense in your case.
Can a brow lift be combined with other procedures?
Yes, a brow lift can be combined, for example, with an upper eyelid lift, a facelift or minimally invasive procedures. This can achieve a comprehensively rejuvenated appearance.
What are the risks of a brow lift with botulinum toxin?
After treatment with botulinum toxin, slight redness, swelling and small bruises are possible, which generally subside after a few days. The effect is limited in time and lasts about 4 to 6 months. Dr. Nichlos injects a precisely defined dose at specific points in the muscles around the brows and informs you about possible side effects beforehand.
Does health insurance cover the cost of a brow lift?
Since this is generally an aesthetic procedure, health insurers do not cover the cost. In addition, Dr. med. Nichlos does not hold statutory health insurance accreditation.
Brow lift with botulinum toxin or surgery: Which is better?
Both methods have different strengths. Treatment with botulinum toxin takes about 10 to 20 minutes and you can return to your daily routine right away, but the effect lasts only about 4 to 6 months. A surgical lift generally lasts several years but requires a procedure with about 7 to 10 days until you are back to social activities. Dr. Nichlos will clarify in the consultation which option suits your brow position and your skin. You can find the costs on the pricing page.
What is the difference between a brow lift and an upper eyelid lift?
In a brow lift, the brows themselves are raised, while in an upper eyelid lift Dr. Nichlos removes excess skin from the upper eyelid. What looks like a hooded eyelid is sometimes caused by drooping brows pressing on the upper eyelid. In that case, tightening alone is unlikely to produce the desired result. Both procedures can also be combined, for example with internal browpexy, in which the brow is raised through the incision of the upper eyelid lift.
